| The Building Based Student
Support Team, BBSST, is designed to help students find ways to do well in
school. Whenever a student is not working on grade level, there is a reason. All
children have different backgrounds, learn at different rates, and in different
ways. The BBSST helps you and the teacher find the best way for your child to
learn. They work with you to develop study skills you can use at home with your
child and work with the teacher to identify any problems that may interfere with
their progress. We can help make your child’s school experience the best it
can be.

IS THIS SPECIAL EDUCATION?
NO
After the TEACHER and the TEAM have tried several options, if things have not
become better in academics or behavior, then the team will recommend Special
Education testing if they think it is needed.
We try to help your child BEFORE special education referrals. Many children
just need a little more help in the regular classroom, not special education
classes.
What kind of help can I ask for?
Academic help for low grades OR Behavior help if your child is having trouble
adjusting to school life.
