Excel-ERATE
Student Success Program
In January 2009, St. Clair County School System began a state approved Computer Based Program for At-Risk students. This program allows students to recover credits based on Credit Recovery Guidelines and gain credits for courses that they have not previously failed by studying and mastering all standards in the courses. Within 4 months in the second semester of last school year, 21 students earned 106.5 credits and 3 graduated using the digital curriculum, APEX. So far this school year, applications have been submitted, interviews have been conducted and 14 students are enrolled in the Excel-erate Program. This digital curriculum is also available at each high school under the supervision of the At-Risk Coach and ECTC school counselor. Approximately ninety-three are currently utilizing the digital curriculum at the high schools, and this year the alternative/day program at Ruben Yancey School is incorporating up to twenty five student stations to utilize the format as well.
Currently APEX learning is what the district is using. Learn more about it here. http://www.apexlearning.com/
