Located
forty-five miles from Birmingham and twenty miles from Gadsden, Ashville
High School is centrally located in the St. Clair County School District. It
is easily accessible by Interstate 59, Highway 231, and Alabama Highway 11.
Since its charter as Ashville Academy in 1862, Ashville High School has been
and continues to be an integral part of Ashville’s progressive community.
Since first opening the doors as a public education institution, Ashville High School has produced six county Superintendents of Education, of whom five went on to achieve the position of State Superintendent of Education, a Chief Justice and later Governor of Texas, and a Governor of Alabama. Many other graduates have become leaders of their community as educators, attorneys, doctors, bankers, and business leaders. Our mission at Ashville High School is to prepare each student to be a lifelong learner who leads a fulfilling life and contributes positively to our democratic society.
