![]() Moody Elementary School is located at 1006 H.L. Blocker Circle in Moody, Alabama. You may contact us by any of the following: Phone: (205) 640-2180 At Moody Elementary School we have a firm belief in all of the following: Learning is a lifelong process. Children should be provided with learning opportunities that develop values, attitudes, skills, knowledge, independence, self-discipline, and character. Each student is a valued individual who can learn, achieve, share, and succeed. Multiple assessments should be used that reflect individual progress toward stated objectives. Every student will be given the learning tools to succeed in the 21st century. A commitment to continuous individual improvement is imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident and self-directed. Students will demonstrate functional skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts. Students will utilize technology tools to access, process, and present information through a variety of resources. Students should be assisted in shaping their values and accepting themselves in the world in which they live. Critical thinking, problem solving, and creative expression skills should be promoted. The importance of good health habits and motor skills must be instilled by the classroom teacher, counselor, and physical education teacher. Each student should develop goals and responsibilities by teaching community economic awareness through programs such as Junior Achievement. Counseling services must be provided for individuals, small groups, and large groups. Teachers should attend workshops and in-service programs on innovative ideas that benefit the students. Systematic two-way communication with parents and families must occur through newsletters, progress reports, report cards, parent/teacher conferences, telephone calls, and special bulletins. Cultural and religious diversity can increase students' understanding of different people around the world. The partnership among the school, the home, and the community must develop: a love and respect for community and school and the role it plays in education, the ability to set goals and the perseverance to reach these goals. |
