Springville Elementary School (SES) is located 30 miles northeast of Birmingham along the I-59 corridor. Springville’s population is 2,521 according to the 2000 census. SES serves 482 students in grades Kindergarten through Third. Springville Elementary consistently scores well on norm referenced tests and remains in the Academic Clear status according to the Alabama State Department of Education. Reading is a high priority in our school. Students use Accelerated Reader, STAR Early Literacy and STAR Reading to monitor progress, along with running records and DIBELS. Students are motivated to improve their reading and work to achieve their personal goals. Third grade has implemented the Accelerated Math program to individualize the math skills that are taught. Plans are being made to incorporate this in the second grade. Parents are actively involved at SES through our PTO program. They volunteer on a daily basis to laminate, run copies, and run a supply store. Parents have helped with Junior Achievement, landscaping projects, building projects and fund-raising projects.
